Updating the Microsoft Windows Root Store

Problem

My list of certificate authority root certificates (aka trust anchors) in Microsoft Windows is out of date.

Solution

The root store in Microsoft Windows is automatically updated by Microsoft Windows Update.  Sometimes users inadvertently deselect the update of root certificates - or that capability is blocked by corporate administrators.

The current Microsoft Windows root store may be downloaded at:

http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe

The QuoVadis CA certificates (in both PEM and DER format) may be found at:

http://www.quovadisglobal.com/QVRepository/DownloadRootsAndCRL.aspx.
