This document provides instructions on how to generate certificate signing request (CSR) for Apple Mac Server 5.0 for OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite and above. If you can not perform these steps on the server, please contact Apple Support.

NOTE: To generate a CSR, you will need to create a key pair for your server. These two items are a digital certificate key pair and cannot be separated. If you lose your public/private key file or your password and generate a new one, your SSL Certificate will no longer match.

  1. On your Mac server, launch Server application.
  2. Click Certificates on the left Menu, and then click +, then select Get a Trust Certificate

  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the information for your certificate, and then click Next.

  5. The text that displays here is Your certificate signing request (CSR).

  6. Click Save and save the file somewhere easily accessible.
