The lattest versions of Chrome begining with version 52 for Mac and Chrome 53 for Windows, are seeing changes to the security icons. In an attempt to make it easier for end users to determine their secure connection Google has made the below changes.
Google is making these changes in hopes of giving greater clarity to clients and is using ISO iconography standards which use the circle-i for information, the triangle for caution and finally the lock indicating a strong HTTPS connection as being established through the browser.
Google also has additional plans to add a 'dangerous security state icon' when the browser has flagged a site as malicious and/or deceptive through Google's Safe Browsing initiative. This is an example of Google's ongoing effort to create greater visability and understanding through Chome to inidicate the strength of a given SSL connection.
