Error: "Base64 encoded data is not valid" on IBM AS/400 Server

Problem

During the installation of a certificate on an IBM AS/400 server, you may receive the error: "Base64 encoded data is not valid."

Cause

The certificate file is improperly formatted.

Solution

To resolve this error, verify that the certificate has been correctly formatted. Verify that there are no extra or trailing spaces before or after every line of the certificate issued to you by Symantec. Below is an example of a certificate formatted correctly:
