Error: "Certificate not renewed. The certificate in the file was issued by a different certificate authority then the certificate you are trying to renew" on IBM iSeries / AS400

Problem

When importing a renewal certificate on the IBM iSeries / AS400 server the following error occurs.

"Certificate not renewed. The certificate in the file was issued by a different certificate authority then the certificate you are trying to renew."

Cause

This error occurs when using an old Certificate Signing Request to complete the renewal of a certificate and not creating a new Certificate Signing Request from the server.

Solution

To resolve the issue create a new Certificate Signing Request from the Server and do a Revoke and Replace of your certificate then re-install the certificate on the IBM iSeries / AS400 server. See the following solutions for additional assistance:
