How to verify the key size or key bit length of issued SSL certificate through Managed PKI for SSL account?

Solution

To verify the key size or key bit length of an issued SSL certificate through Managed PKI for SSL, perform the following methods.

Method 1: Accessing a secure web site through an internet browser

Microsoft Internet Explorer

  1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer and type the secure web site address in the Address field and hit the Enter key.


     
  2. Click the yellow padlock icon
  3. Click View Certificates
  4. Click Details tab
  5. Select Public key field to determine the key size or key bit length of issued SSL certificate

 

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox and type the secure web site address in the Address field and hit the Enter key
  2. Click the yellow padlock icon located on the lower right hand corner of Mozilla Firefox browser
  3. Click View Certificate
  4. Click Details tab
  5. Under Certificate Hierarchy, select the SSL certificate's common name
  6. Under Certificate Fields, locate the section for "Subject Public Key Info" and select Subject's Public Key

 

Method 2: Download issued SSL certificate in the Managed PKI for SSL Control Center

Note: To access the Managed PKI for SSL Control Center, you must be the administrator of your Managed PKI for SSL account.

  1. To download issued SSL certificate in the Managed PKI for SSL Control Center, see SO6294
    Note: Download a X.509 certificate format and save the certificate file on your Windows Desktop (e.g., cert.cer)
  2. Double click the certificate file (e.g., cert.cer)
  3. Click Details tab
  4. Select Public key field to determine the key size or key bit length of issued SSL certificate
