**PLEASE NOTE: This solution is intended as a quick guide to match your public and private key; however, these procedures are only to be used as a modulus check.
The private key contains a series of numbers.
Two of those numbers form the "public key", the others are part of the "private key." They are a unique pair.
The "public key" bits are embedded in the certificate, they are extracted from the CSR. In order to complete a successful install, the certificate and private key must match.
To determine whether the public key in the certificate matches the public portion contained in the private key, view both files, and compare the modulus values with the following instructions:
To view the certificate:
openssl x509 -noout -text -in certfile
To view the key
openssl rsa -noout -text -in keyfile
The "modulus" and "public exponent" portions in the key and the certificate must match exactly.
If the modulus in the two files do not match, the installation will fail.
If a reissue is necessary, please follow the instructions in solution: SO5757
Ensure that the .conf file is pointing to the correct private key and certificate.
