Install Thawte SSL Certificate on Netilla SSL VPN 6.4


To install Thawte ssl certificate on Netilla SSL VPN version 6.4, perform the following steps.

Step 1: Download the Root and Intermediate Certificate

  1. To download the root, refer to solution SO4362
    • Copy and save the root ca into text file. Be sure to use a text editor such as Notepad or Vi.
    • For example: rootca.cer
  2. To download the Thawte Primary & Secondary Intermediate Certificates, refer to article AR1384
    •  Copy and save the Primary and Secondary Intermediate CA contents into separate text files. Be sure to use a text editor such as Notepad or Vi. 
    • For example: primary_intca.cer & secondary_intca.cer


Step 2: Install the Root and Intermediate Certificate

  1. From the Administrator Site, click System Configuration > General > SSL > CA certificates > Upload New
  2. In the Upload New CA Certificate window, paste the entire content of the root ca certificate
  3. Click Submit
  4. Repeat this for the Primary & Secondary Intermediate CA certificates


Step 3: Install the SSL Certificate

The Thawte certificate will be sent by email. If the certificate is included as an attachment (Cert.cer), you may use the file. If the certificate is imbedded in the body of the email, copy and paste it into a text file (save as cert.cer) using Vi or Notepad. Do not use Microsoft Word or other word processing programs that may add characters. Confirm that there are no extra lines or spaces in the file.

The text file should look like:


[encoded data]


Make sure there are 5 dashes to either side of the BEGIN CERTIFICATE and END CERTIFICATE and that no white space, extra line breaks or additional characters have been inadvertently added.

If you need to download the certificate from your account

  • To obtain a copy of your SSL certificate from Thawte Certificate Center (TCC) or Thawte Certificate Center Enterprise (TCCE), refer to solution SO13187
  1. From the Administrator Site, click System Configuration > General > SSL > Certs from CA > Upload Cert from CA
  2. Copy and then paste the ssl certificate in the text box labeled Certificate Content
  3. Click Submit
