Export or Backup a Thawte Code Signing for Adobe AIR Certificate from a Firefox Browser

Solution

Perform the following steps to backup or export a Thawte Code Signing for Adobe AIR certificate from a Firefox browser based on Windows or Mac users.

NOTE:  The Thawte Code Signing for Adobe AIR certificate is required to be exported from the Firefox browser for signing procedures.

 

 

Apple Mac Users:

  1. From the Firefox browser, click Firefox on the top menu > Preferences
     
  2. Click the Advanced icon on the top menu of the Preferences window
     
  3. Click the Certificates tab
     
  4. Click the View Certificates button
     
  5. From the Certificate Manager window, click the Your Certificates tab
     
  6. From the list, select the {TAdobe} certificate, then click the Backup button
     
  7. Navigate to a location to save the certificate file and provide a filename, then click Save

    NOTE:  Keep the format as PKCS12 Files
     
  8. Create a Certificate backup password, then click OK

    NOTE:  This password will be used during signing procedures.  Also note that this password cannot be retrieved nor recovered.
     
  9. A dialog box will appear stating:

    "Successfully backed up your security certificate and private key"

    Click OK on the dialog box and being using the exported certificate file for signing procedures.
     

 

Microsoft Windows Users:

  1. From the Firefox browser, click Tools > Options > Advanced > Encryption tab > View Certificates > Authorities tab
     
  2. Select the Thawte Code Signing CA - G2, then click Edit



     
  3. Check the box This certificate can identify software makers, then click OK



     
  4. Click the Your Certificate tab
     
  5. From the list, select the Thawte Code Signing for Adobe AIR certificate, then click the Backup button
     
  6. Navigate to a location to save the certificate file and provide a filename, then click Save
     
  7. Create a Certificate backup password

    NOTE:  This password will be used during signing procedures.  Also note that this password cannot be retrieved nor recovered.
     
  8. Click OK and the Thawte Code Signing for Adobe AIR certificate will be exported from the Firefox browser and can be used for signing procedures.
