The Global Traffic Director (GTD) is a geo-load balancing technique that allows you to specify different zone files in various regions. With GTD enabled, queries are answered by servers located in the end user’s region. In Constellix, the following areas can be configured to optimize your traffic:
Enabling GTD is useful when you have servers in different regions of the world that host your domain content. Response times and accuracy is improved because queries are answered by the nameserver closest to the end user’s location.
1. Log in to the Constellix Dashboard
In the Constellix dashboard, select the appropriate domain from the Recently Updated Domains list or search for the domain in the top-left search bar.
2. Click Advanced Settings and Enable GTD
After selecting your domain, you will be taken to the Records page. From here, click the green Advanced Settings button on the far right side of the screen and then choose Enable Global Traffic Director from the drop-down list.
3. Commit Changes
Once you click Enable Global Traffic Director, a brief confirmation message will appear in green, and then you will be prompted to review and apply changes.
