What is Failover?

Solution ID : SO125
Last Modified : 10/21/2023

Failover is a DNS record configuration that automatically updates records based on resource availability. Meaning, if you have a record that points www.yourdomain.com to the IP address and has failover enabled; if is unavailable, the IP address will be updated to a preconfigured backup IP address.

The backup IP address is only used if the primary is unavailable and the backup is available.

DNS Made Easy uses integrated system monitoring to routinely check the availability of the IP addresses in your records.
